Peyote Erdbeere * Peyote Strawberry

  

* Als Kind wurde ich von meinen Großeltern mütterlicherseits oft im Sommer zum Erdbeerpflücken mitgenommen. Was war das toll! Erdbeere in den Mund, Erdbeere in den Eimer, Erdbeere in den Mund, Erdbeere in den Mund ... ;) Erdbeeren essen so viel man konnte. Traumhaft! 
Als ich diese Anleitung von LadyLunarCatMagicArt (Etsy) für eine Erdbeere aus Zylinderperlen sah, fiel mir gleich meine Oma ein, die im Mai 99 wird. Für sie habe ich die Erdbeere gefädelt. So schnell werde ich aber nicht noch eine weitere machen, das ganze Zusammennähen war recht anstrengend für die Augen. Ich habe außerdem noch sehr viele andere Projekte auf meiner Liste, nicht nur handarbeitstechnisch. Kann mir jemand Langeweile erklären?

Gefädelt habe ich die Erdbeere aus Toho Treasures.

* As a child, my maternal grandparents often took me strawberry picking in the summer. What a great thing that was! Strawberry in the mouth, strawberry in the bucket, strawberry in the mouth, strawberry in the mouth.... ;) Eating as many strawberries as you could. Fabulous! 

When I saw this tutorial by LadyLunarCatMagicArt (Etsy) for a strawberry made of cylinder beads, I immediately thought of my grandmother who turns 99 in May. I made the strawberry for her. I will not be making another one so soon though, all the sewing together was quite exhausting on the eyes. I also have a lot of other projects on my list, not just needlework-/crafts-related. Can someone explain boredom to me?
I beaded the strawberry from Toho Treasures.

Peyote Tulpe aus 15/0 Delicas * Peyote Tulip from 15/0 Delicas

 

* Wie im vorherigen Eintrag angekündigt, habe ich die Peyote Tulpe noch mit den kleineren 15/0 Delicas gefädelt. Hier das Ergebnis.

* Mit der schönen Anleitung "3d peyote stitch Tulip flower 19T001" von LadyLunarCatMagicART (Etsy) habe ich 2 Tulpen als Geschenke für meine "Mütter" und "Väter" (Eltern und Schwiegereltern) gefädelt. Hier habe ich jeweils 11/0 Zylinderperlen (Toho Treasures und Miyuki Delicas) verwendet. Für meinen Jahreszeitenbaum will ich noch eine Tulpe aus den kleineren 15/0 Miyuki Delicas perlen - drückt mir die Daumen, dass die Perlen beim Zusammennähen nicht brechen ...

* With the beautiful tutorial "3d peyote stitch Tulip flower 19T001" by LadyLunarCatMagicART (Etsy) I have beaded 2 tulips as gifts for my "mothers" and "fathers" (parents and parents-in-law). I used 11/0 cylinder beads each (Toho Treasures and Miyuki Delicas). For my seasonal tree I want to bead another tulip from the smaller 15/0 Miyuki Delicas - keep your fingers crossed that the beads will not break when sewing the parts together ...

Perlenblume für Jahreszeitenbaum * Beaded flower for seasonal tree

 * Um meinen Jahreszeitenbaum frühlingshaft zu gestalten, holte ich mal wieder die Perlen raus. Aus dem Buch "Dimensional Flowers, Leaves & Vines" (Barbara L. Grainger) fädelte ich eine Ranke aus 15/0 Toho Rocailles, die "Exotic Elegance Flower" aus 15/0 Delicas und eine eigene Blattvariante aus 11/0 Toho Treasures. Technik: Peyote.

* To make my seasonal tree spring-like, I got out the beads again. From the book "Dimensional Flowers, Leaves & Vines" (Barbara L. Grainger) I beaded a vine from 15/0 Toho Rocailles, the "Exotic Elegance Flower" from 15/0 Delicas and my own leaf variation from 11/0 Toho Treasures. Technique: Peyote.

* Das Anbringen an den Baum hat mich einige Nerven gekostet. Die kleinen Blüten hatte ich vor wenigen Wochen schon einmal gefädelt.

* Attaching the components was quite nerve-wracking. I had already threaded the small flowers a few weeks ago.

* Inspiration war ein Blaustern.

* Inspiration was a squill.

"Tiefe des Herzens" (Tesbih)

* Die Mala "Expecto Patronum" habe ich an meine Cousine verschenkt und die Tesbih "Herzensgeheimnis" hatte ich auf Wunsch gefertigt. Daher musste jetzt noch eine Kette für mich selbst her. 

* I have gifted the mala "Expecto Patronum" to my cousin and I have made the Tesbih by request. Therefore, I had to craft a necklace for myself. 

* Für mich ist es auch wieder eine Kette mit 99 Perlen (eine Art Tesbih) geworden. Die dunkelroten Perlen sind Granatperlen.

* The necklace for me has become one with 99 beads (a kind of Tesbih) again. The dark red beads are garnet beads.

"Alohomora" Kaleidocycle

* Dies ist ein sogenanntes "Kaleidocycle" aus kleinen Saatperlen (11/0 Zylinderperlen und 15/0 Rocailles). Die "englische" Basis-Anleitung heißt "Kaliprimer" (Contemporary Geometric Beadwork) - bei meinem "Alohomora" sind die Muster der Dreiecke jedoch andere. Zwei Muster habe ich mir selbst ausgedacht.

* This is a so-called "Kaleidocycle" from tiny seed beads (11/0 cylinder beads and 15/0 Rocailles). The basic tutorial is  "Kaliprimer" (Contemporary Geometric Beadwork) - however, the triangle patterns in my "Alohomora" are different. Two of the patterns are my own designs. 

* Die einzelnen Dreiecke zu machen war kein Problem, aber das Zusammensetzen war schon eine Herausforderung (für jemanden, der in Geometrie nicht so bewandert ist, aber zum Glück habe ich einen Physiker als Mann ...). Jetzt weiß ich auch, worauf ich beim nächsten Mal achten muss. Allerdings freue ich mich nun zunächst auf die Wolle, die ich bestellt habe ... Herbstzeit = Strickzeit! :)

* Making the individual triangles was no problem - the challenge was assembling them (for someone who is not so proficient in geometry. Luckily my husband is a physicist ...). Now I know better how to handle this next time. But now I am looking forward to receiving the wool I have ordered ... Autumn time = knitting time! :)

"Flitwick" - New geometric bracelet

* Ein weiteres Armband ist entstanden: "Flitwick" Inspiration war "Layered Winghorn Cuff" von Robin Douglas (Contemporary Geometric Beadwork II), aber es ist dennoch ganz anders geworden. Dies ist mein erstes Armband, bei dem ich mit "Unterröcken" experimentiert habe. Es besteht hauptsächlich aus 15/0 Delicas, als Verzierungen dienen 2mm Swarovskis und 15/0 tschechische Charlotten.

* Another bracelet has come into being: "Flitwick". The Layered Winghorn Cuff" by Robin Douglas (Contemporary Geometric Beadwork II) was my inspiration, however, it has turned out completely differently. I experimented with "underskirts" for the first time in this piece. The main beads used are 15/0 Delicas. 2mm Swarovskis and 15/0 Czech Charlottes serve as embellishments.

* Jedes Mal wenn ich den Namen "Professor Flitwick" in den Harry-Potter-Hörbüchern höre, bekomme ich gute Laune, weil ich mir den kleinen, sympahtischen Lehrer vorstelle.

*Any time I hear the name "Professor Flitwick" mentioned in the Harry Potter audiobooks, it cheers me up since I envision the small, likeable teacher. 

Sinistra (Sea Serpent bracelet)

* Seit ich das "Golden Horned Sea Serpent" Armband von Gabriella van Diepen im Buch Contemporary Geometric Beadwork Volume 1 sah, war ich fasziniert. Es dauerte allerdings noch eine Weile, bis ich kapierte, wie es gemacht wird. Dann kamen noch ein paar Strickprojekte dazwischen. Letzten Dezember habe ich dann meine Version davon endlich begonnen. Hier ist das Restultat.

* Since I saw the "Golden Horned Sea Serpent" bracelet by Gabriella van Diepen in the book Contemporary Geometric Beadwork Volume 1, I have been fascinated. However, it took me a while to figure out how it is made. Then a couple of knitting projects intevened. Last December, I finally began my version of this bracelet. Here is the result.

* Da wir Harry Potter als Hörbücher hören (momentan "der Feuerkelch") und ich viel mit meinen Kettlebells trainiere, kam mir der Name "Sinistra" in den Sinn. Es ist einerseits eine Figur bei Harry Potter, die bis jetzt nicht so sehr in Erscheinung trat (sie wird ab und an mal erwähnt), andererseits ist "Simple and Sinister" ein grundlegendes Kettlebell-Trainingsprogramm von Pavel Tsatsouline.

* As we are listening to Harry Potter audio books (currently "Goblet of Fire") and I am training a lot with my kettlebells, the Name "Sinistra" has come to my mind. On the one hand, it is a character in the Harry Potter world, which has not appeared much by now (she is mentioned now and then), on the other hand, "Simple and Sinister" is an essential kettlebell workout program by Pavel Tsatsouline.

* Fragt nicht, wie ich den Draht durch die Perlenarbeit bekommen habe. Ich möchte nicht mehr daran denken ...

* Please do not ask how I managed to pull the memory wire through the beadwork. I do not want to be reminded ….

Witchflower Shawl (Harbord Shawl)

* In meinem Urlaub ist noch ein Tuch fertig geworden.

* I managed to finish a shawl during my days off from work.

* Sogar die Kettlebells kamen beim Spannen noch nützlich zum Einsatz.

* Even the kettlebells came in handy when blocking the shawl. 

* Jetzt geht es zurück zu den Perlen. Hier die erste Farbe für mein neues Projekt, ein selbstgemischter Perlenmix.

* Now back to the beads. This is the first colour for my new project, a "home made" bead mix. 

Der Lindwurm ist fertig (Power Puff Bracelet)

* "Der Lindwurm ist fertig!", war mein Ausruf als ich das Armband gestern Abend fertiggestellt hatte.

* "I finished the lindworm!" - that was my proclamation when I completed the bracelet yesterday evening.

* Die Inspiration war ein Armreif von Jean Power, ein sogenanntes "Powerpuff Bangle", mit abwechselnd großen und kleinen Dreiecken.

* I was inspired by a so-called powerpuff bangle by Jean Power with alternating big and small triangles.

* Ich orientierte mich an der Anleitung für ein "Caldera Bangle" aus "Contemporary Geometric Beadwork 1" und fügte zwischen den Dreiecken für den "Schlauch" (so übersetze ich jetzt mal "puff") eine "point round" und eine "fill round" ein.

* I was roughly guided by the tutorial for a "Caldera Bangle" in the book "Contemporary Geometric Beadwork 1" and added one point round and one fill round for the puff between the triangles.

* Es ist ein ungewöhnliches Armband, aber ich mag es. Ich nenne es Fàfnir (der Umarmer).

* It is a strange bracelet but I like it. I call it Fàfnir (the embracer).

* Irgendwann mache ich bestimmt noch mal eins mit 15/0 Delicas (dies ist aus 11/0 Delicas und 11/0 Treasures). Aber jetzt wird erstmal wieder gestrickt - ein Pullover ...

* Sometime in the future, I will surely make another one with 15/0 Delicas (this one is from 11/Delicas and 11/0 Treasures). But now I am off to knitting again - a jumper ...

* Wochende ist Hobby-Spaß. Oben sieht man ein Foto von meinem Yogaplätzchen. Ganz neu ist der große Wandbehang mit dem Elefanten (eigentlich eine Tagesdecke). Ein richtiger Platz für Ruhe und Entspannung.

* Weekend is hobby fun. Above you can see a picture of my yoga space. The huge wall hanging with the elephant (originally a bedspread) is brand-new. Really a place for stillness and Relaxation.

* Was das Stricken betrifft, wächst und gedeiht der Schal "Afton" von Brooklyn Tweed. Die 2. Hälfte ist jetzt in der Mache.

* As far as knitting is concerned, the scarf "Afton" (Brooklyn Tweed) is growing. The 2nd half is now in the making.

* Und hier einer meiner Strickpläne für 2017: Dunadd. Schon lange habe ich damit geliebäugelt und das Strickpaket nun endlich in der Farbe sea anemone bestellt.

* And here one of my knitting plans for 2017. Dunadd. I had been toying with the idea for quite a while. Now I have ordered the kit in the colour sea anemone.

Waves of the Fall & back to knitting

* Nachdem ich meiner Mutter den Kanagawa Waves Armreif als Armband statt als Armreif gemacht habe, habe ich es für mich ebenfalls nochmals als Armband geperlt.

* After I made the Kanagawa Waves Bangle for my mother as a bracelet, I beaded it as a bracelet for me as well.

* Leider hielt der Verschluss, den einer meiner Facebook-Freunde für einen USB-Anschluss hielt ;), nicht richtig am Armband meiner Mutter. Wir werden es bald reparieren müssen. Auch bei mir wurde der Verschluss zu locker, so dass ich kurzerhand einen Verschluss mit Druckknöpfen wählte.

* Unfortunately, the clasp which one of my facebook friends mistook for an USB connection ;), did not stay put on my mother's bracelet. We will have to repair it soon. That special clasp was too loose when I tried to fix it to my bracelet as well. Therefore, I spontaneously decided to use snap buttons as a clasp.

* Auf dem obigen Foto sieht man noch mal meinen Armreif und mein Armband zusammen. Der Armreif ist schwer über die Hand zu ziehen und leidet entsprechend. Daher bin ich mit dem Armband zufriedener.

* On the picture above you can see my bangle and my bracelet together. It is difficult to pull the bangle over the hand and, therefore, it is often strained. That is why I am much more satisfied with the bracelet.

* Zwischenzeitlich ist auch die Wolle für den Schal angenommen. Back to knitting. :)

* In the meantime, the yarn for the scarf has arrived. Back to knitting. :)
