Wellenreiten am Weststrand (Armreif)

* Dies ist mein "Wellenreiten am Weststrand" Armreif nach der Anleitung "Kanagawa Waves" von Cath Thomas aber mit den kleineren Delicas (15/0).

* This is my "Surfriding at Weststrand" bangle according to the pattern "Kanagawa Waves" by Cath Thomas. However, it is made from the smaller Delicas (15/0).

* Bei Cath Thomas sind die kleineren "Horns" die Berge, die man auf der Zeichung "Kanagawa Waves" sieht. Bei mir sind es ebenfalls Wellen.

* Cath Thomas has created the smaller horns in such a way that they mimic the mountains in the "Kangawa Waves" drawing. In my bangle, the small horns are waves as well.



* Jetzt habe ich die Nordsee immer bei mir ... ;)

Carribean Colours

* Ich bin ja eher der Nordsee-Typ, aber ich muss sagen, diese "karibischen Farben" der Ostsee haben auch etwas.

* I have to say that I prefer the North Sea. However, the "carribean colours" of the Baltic Sea are quite beautiful as well.

* A propos Meer - der "Kanagawa Waves" Armreif von Cath Thomas ist im Werden, ich hatte aber die letzten Tage kaum Zeit dafür. Der ein oder andere hat das Foto eventuell schon bei instagram gesehen.

* Speaking of the sea - the "Kanagawa Waves" bangle by Cath Thomas is still in progress. I have not had much time for it within the last couple of day. Some of you may have seen this picture already on instagram.

Successful Experiment - Ziltoidia 9

* Das Experiment ist geglückt. Ich bin zufrieden mit dem Armband. Es ist nicht perfekt und eigentlich sollte es ein ganz anderes Armband werden. Es kamen die Contemporary-Geometric-Beadwork-Bücher dazwischen und die Neugierde auf "Hörner". Manchmal muss man es sich einfach entwickeln lassen ...

* The experiment was successful. I am satisfied with the bangle. It is not perfect and I had planned it to be a totally different bangle. The Contemporary Geometric Beadwork books cropped up and the curiosity about "horns". Sometimes you have have to allow it to develop ...

Horn Experiments

* Nachdem ich die Contemporary Geometric Beadwork Bücher (siehe vorheriger Eintrag) verschlungen habe, musste ich einfach die "Horns" ausprobieren. Irgendwie hat sich nach dem "Schließen" der "Horns" leider meine Perlenanzahl verringert. Es ist nicht so tragisch, da der Armreif wieder viel zu groß geworden ist. Von daher schadet es nicht, dass sich der Umfang dann so etwas verkleinert hat. So werde ich jetzt mit dem "Flow" gehen und den Umfang weiter verringern - mit den kleineren 15/0 Delicas (siehe unten). Und so werde ich dann versuchen die Perlenanzahl dieses Mal nach etwaigen "Horns" beizubehalten. Außerdem habe ich Perlen für "Kanagawa Wave" bestellt. Es wird etwas anders werden als das Original ...

* Having devoured the Contemporary Geometric Beadwork books (see previous entry), I had to try out "horns". Somehow my bead count has been reduced after "closing" the horns. It is not that tragic since the bangle has become much too large again. So it is ok that the diameter has been diminished. I decided to go with the "flow" now and continue diminishing the diameter - with the smaller 15/0 Delicas (see below). And so I will try to keep the bead count this time after a few "horns". Besides, I have ordered beads for the "Kanagawa Wave". It will be different from the original ...

Contemporary Geometric Beadwork Vol. I and II and first (part of) bangle

* Endlich sind DIE Bücher gekommen! Contemporary Geometric Beadwork Band I und II. Im vorigen Blogeintrag hatte ich schon kurz drüber geschrieben. Ich habe sie bei DiMarca in Frankreich bestellt und sie brauchten eine Weile, aber Sie kamen in exzellentem Zustand an und enthielten eine Perlenmix, Original-Unterschriften von Kate, der Autorin aus den USA, eine Postkarte etc.

* Finally, THE books have arrived! Contemporary Geometric Beadwork Volume I and II. I already wrote briefly about them in the previous blog entry. I ordered them with DiMarca in France and they took a while but they are in excellent condition and include a surprise bead mix, original signatures from Kate, the US-based author, a postcard etc.

* Die Bücher selbst enthalten die grundlegenden Techniken, die benötigt werden, um eigene Kreationen zu entwickeln. Sie enthalten nicht unbedingt die Anleitungen zu den abgebildeten Kunstwerken. Auf den ersten Blick wirken diese Kunstwerke alleine fotografiert schon etwas kurios, allerdings gibt es in den Bücher auch einige Fotos, auf denen die Kunstwerke getragen werden. Und ich muss sagen, ich war überrascht wie cool das dann aussieht. Hier kann man in die "Basics" des ersten Band hineinschnuppern:

* The books contain the basic techniques you require in order to develop your own creations. They do not necessarily contain the patterns of the pictured works of art. At first glance, these works of art do appear a little bit odd. However, the books include a few photos showing how they look like when they are worne. * Und hier ist mein allererster Armreif überhaupt. Es soll der erste Teil eines größeren Armbands sein. Die Techniken aus den Büchern wurden darin noch nicht verwirklicht, daher ist er auch nicht so künstlerisch. Aber im Laufe des Jahres werde ich hoffentlich auch zum Ausprobieren der Techniken aus den Büchern kommen.

* And here is my first bangle ever. It is intended to be the first part of a larger bangle. The techniques from the books have not yet been implented in this one. That is why it is not as artistic. But in the course of the year I will hopefully be able to make time for tinkering around with the techniques from the books.
